US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that peace talks between russia and Ukraine have so far "not been fruitful," and that the US is not interested in endless meetings that yield no progress. At the same time, the country is prepared to continue participating in the talks if they prove productive.
It was reported by The Guardian.
"If we see an opportunity to pull together talks that are productive, not counterproductive, and that have the chance to be fruitful, we’re prepared to play that role," he said.
Rubio also added that the russian-Ukrainian war “will not end with a military victory by one side or the other,” as has traditionally been defined, and hopes that a solution will eventually be found.
In particular, he noted that the US is ready to participate in negotiations but “is not interested in getting drawn into an endless cycle of meetings that lead nowhere.”
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, meanwhile, French diplomats are engaged in ongoing negotiations with China, attempting to persuade Beijing to use its influence on moscow to halt military aggression against Ukraine.
