The Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez (NORSI) oil refinery, located in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast of the aggressor state, russia, has suspended operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones.
Reuters reported this on Thursday, May 21, citing its own sources.
According to the agency, the company has halted the crude distillation unit CDU-6, which is a key piece of equipment at the refinery. The shutdown of this unit will affect the operation of the entire plant.
The unit typically has a processing capacity of 25,700 tons of crude oil per day. It accounts for 53% of the plant’s total capacity.
The Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery is russia’s second-largest gasoline producer, capable of processing 16 million tons of crude oil per year.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 18, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck an oil refinery located in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
As a reminder, yesterday, May 20, it became known that Ukraine’s latest attacks led to the complete or partial shutdown of all oil refineries in central russia.
We also reported that Ukrainian intelligence had obtained data indicating that in recent months, russia had lost up to 10% of its oil refining capacity due to Ukrainian strikes.
