The self-proclaimed President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he is open to talking with Ukraine and is ready to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss problems of relations between the two countries. His words were quoted by the Belta newspaper on Thursday, May 21.

Lukashenko noted that Belarus will do everything to prevent a war between Ukraine and Belarus. According to him, despite this, the military has been withdrawn from places of permanent deployment and is training.

"If he (Volodymyr Zelenskyy - BELTA note) wants to talk about something, consult or something else - please, we are open to it. In any place - in Ukraine, Belarus - I am ready to meet with him and discuss the problems of Belarusian-Ukrainian relations. And, perhaps, to talk about prospects. For some reason, we have something to talk about with the Americans, Germans, Poles, Lithuanians and Latvians, but with Ukraine - nothing…" Lukashenko said.

In addition, the Belarusian leader said that he knows the opinion of the Ukrainian military, who do not need an additional front. Lukashenko stressed that the Europeans are allegedly pushing Zelenskyy to escalate because they do not like the dialogue between Belarus and the United States.
