Russia preparing campaign to discredit President and his family, as well as mobilization in Ukraine - Foreign Intelligence Service

Russia, the aggressor state, has launched a media campaign in Ukraine and across Europe targeting the Ukrainian government and mobilization efforts. It was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (FIS) on Wednesday, May 20.

The Foreign Intelligence Service has obtained access to a number of russian documents confirming the aggressor’s preparations to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. The russian federation plans to launch this campaign due to critical economic problems and the failure of the spring offensive. According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, russia has developed three strands of the campaign:

"First—discrediting the mobilization in Ukraine and the military leadership responsible for manning Ukraine’s defense forces. This task is critical for them given the heavy Russian losses on the front lines. Second—discrediting the President of Ukraine, his team, and his family members. The third is to prevent the ‘media scandal surrounding A. Yermak and Yu. Mendel’s interview’ from being sidelined. The Kremlin considers this case important, but one that has been pushed out of Europe’s information space due to international events, particularly the situation surrounding Iran,” the report states.

To implement these plans, russia has developed fake documents in the name of Ukrainian government agencies to circulate them among the public, and is also attempting to involve former Ukrainian officials, politicians, and experts in its schemes. Abroad, the enemy plans to use more than 15 proxy media outlets, including L'Antidiplomatico, Magyar Nemzet, Prvni Zpravy, and CZ24news.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed countering possible russian offensive operations on the Chernihiv-Kyiv axis during a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
