From January to March, the army of the aggressor country of russia launched more than 19,000 unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles of various types towards Ukraine, while the Ukrainian army demonstrated high efficiency in intercepting air targets.

This is stated in a report prepared for the US Congress by the inspectors general of the US Department of War, the US Department of State and the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The document states that during the quarter, russia continued to concentrate air strikes on Ukraine in order to put pressure on its air defense system.

According to data provided by the Pentagon's inspector general, from January to March, the russians launched 19,044 UAVs and missiles. This practically corresponds to the total number of strikes in the previous quarter.

"This quarter, the Armed Forces of Ukraine increased the effectiveness of their air and missile defense, intercepting or otherwise neutralizing about 88.1% of these strikes," the report says.

According to the United States, in the previous quarter, the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense was 81.2%.

American military intelligence believes that Ukraine's air defense and aviation assets are still insufficient to protect military and civilian infrastructure. However, russian strikes on other facilities, such as airfields and military enterprises, have not led to a significant decrease in the combat effectiveness of the Ukrainian army.

The document also says that the civilian population of Ukraine continues to suffer losses, face forced displacement and disruptions in daily life. Despite this, Ukrainians continue to demonstrate high support for the army and oppose softening the negotiating position.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier on May 19, the occupiers launched a missile strike on the city of Pryluky in the Chernihiv Region. The strike was carried out by a ballistic missile, killing three people.
