The Belarusian Defense Ministry has announced the start of joint exercises with russia on the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support.

This was reported by the Belarusian Defense Ministry on May 18.

According to Minsk, the exercises are "planned" and allegedly not directed against other states.

"The exercises are not directed against third countries and do not pose a threat to security in the region," the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

What the military will practice

The department noted that the main goal of the maneuvers is to test the readiness of the military to perform tasks involving the use of nuclear weapons.

"The goal of the measures is to improve the level of personnel training, test the readiness of the army to perform tasks, and organize combat use from unplanned areas," the report said.

Missile forces and aviation were involved in the exercises. Together with the russian military, they will practice the delivery of nuclear munitions and preparation for their possible use.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry separately emphasized that during the maneuvers, they will test the readiness to use nuclear weapons from unprepared positions.

"The main feature of these exercises is to test the readiness to use nuclear weapons from unprepared areas," the department said.

It also reported that the military will practice the covert movement of units over long distances.
