On the night of May 16–17, moscow and the moscow oblast were attacked by drones. Local authorities report 12 casualties and damage to infrastructure, and numerous videos of explosions and drones flying overhead have appeared online.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported 12 people injured as a result of the nighttime drone attack on moscow and the region. According to him, one of the drones crashed near the entrance to the moscow Oil Refinery, where construction workers were injured.
He stated that the plant’s operations were not disrupted, while confirming damage to three residential buildings. He also noted that the Ministry of Defense’s air defense forces shot down over 120 drones over the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, local residents are posting numerous videos of the drone attacks. Some footage contains profanity.
According to the Telegram channel Astra, explosions were reported in Zelenograd, Khimki, Lobnya, and Naro-Fominsk. Videos from the scenes showing explosions and air defense operations are circulating online.
In Zelenograd, according to the channel’s reports, drones attacked the Elma Technology Park, where fires broke out. The companies based in the complex are engaged in the production of electronics, measuring and optical equipment, materials processing, and research and development.
Separately, there are reports of a possible strike on the Solnechnogorskaya oil products loading station in the village of Durikino, moscow oblast.
As a reminder, on the night of May 15, the russian city of Ryazan came under a massive drone attack, resulting in a large-scale fire at a local oil refinery.
