On the morning of May 15, Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi was doused with an unknown substance in the city center. The attacker was a 46-year-old Lviv resident.

It was reported by the Lviv Regional Police.

At around 10:40 a.m. on Rynok Square in Lviv, a passerby ran up and suddenly doused the mayor of Lviv with an unidentified liquid.

The identity of the assailant has been established—he is a 46-year-old Lviv resident.

It is noted that an investigative team and personnel from other units of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 and the Lviv Regional Police are working at the scene.

Law enforcement officials have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and urgent investigative measures are being taken.

The mayor of Lviv commented on the morning attack, calling it hooliganism rather than an assassination attempt. According to Sadovyi, on his way to work, a man ran up to him and poured a bucket of dirty water on his back.

"That’s all. I changed my clothes. I’ll wash them tonight. This is hooliganism, not an assassination attempt. I’ve been attacked before, so I’m used to it. Don’t inflate. But thank you for your concern. Everything is fine," he concluded.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in April, Sadovyi greeted King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in Lviv, making a slip of the tongue—instead of “Your Majesty,” the mayor of Lviv said “Your Emergency.”
