President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered the reinforcement of the Chernihiv-Kyiv sector, from which the aggressor country may launch a new operation against Ukraine or one of the NATO countries. The head of state announced this in an evening video address on Friday, May 15.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian intelligence has gathered information about negotiations between russia and the Belarusian leadership. According to him, the occupiers want to launch additional aggressive operations from Belarusian territory, so they are trying to draw Lukashenko even further into the war against Ukraine. Russia’s plan is to attack either the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction or one of the NATO countries bordering Belarus from Belarusian territory.
"Of course, we will continue to defend Ukraine, defend our people, the Ukrainians—I have instructed our Ukrainian Defense and Security Forces to prepare a response plan, and we will review and approve it at the General Staff. We will reinforce the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction. Our partners also know what is happening and what Belarus is being pushed toward," the President emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the aggressor country russia’s plans for operations against Ukraine or NATO countries from the territory of Belarus.
