"Ukrzaliznytsia has become one of the main targets of a massive attack by the aggressor country of russia today. This was stated in the carrier's message on Wednesday, May 13.
The enemy launched 23 strikes on railway facilities in the west, north and central part of Ukraine. The attack was aimed at energy infrastructure, bridges, passenger, wagon and locomotive depots in the Zakarpattia, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Volyn, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk Regions. Three locomotives were damaged during the night due to hits on rolling stock.
"But, unfortunately, not without losses in our Iron Family. The enemy's insidious attacks on the railway town of Zdolbuniv took the lives of 2 of our colleagues. They were not at their workplaces at the time, but the enemy is hitting indiscriminately, as well as one of our colleagues who was injured there," the Ukrzaliznytsia noted.
Monitoring centers are operating in an intensified mode, evacuations are being carried out promptly in all regions, thanks to which not a single passenger was injured, and trains continue to move on all sections. There were also no deaths at work. However, one employee who was rushing to shelter was injured.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, the Russian occupation army has been attacking Ukraine since the evening of May 12, using almost 900 drones of various types.
On May 13, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after a massive drone attack, the occupiers may launch missiles at Ukraine.
In addition, Advisor to the Minister of Defense Sergey "Flash" Beskrestnov stated that the air attack by the occupiers could last until mid-Thursday, May 14.
