US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that the Pentagon has sent additional personnel to Ukraine to study the use of drones in combat conditions.

He said this during a hearing in a Senate committee.

According to Hegseth, he personally approved the sending of military personnel who are to study the use of drones in both offensive and defensive operations.

"I personally approved sending additional personnel there to study this drone battlefield - both offensively and defensively - so that we can learn all the possible lessons from this conflict and implement them in real time in how we defend and conduct offensive operations in an era where drone dominance is a necessity," he said.

During the hearing, Senator Mitch McConnell recalled the words of US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, who called Ukraine the "Silicon Valley of War", and asked whether Hegseth supports trips by Pentagon representatives to Ukraine to gain combat experience.

The Pentagon chief replied that American officials have already visited Ukraine repeatedly and "learned a lot" during such trips.

Recall that the US armed forces have begun a large-scale transformation of the personnel training system, taking as a basis the realities of the modern war in Ukraine.
