First Deputy Mayor Serhii Savych opened fire inside the Svitlovodsk City Council building in the Kirovohrad Region. It was reported in a post by the city council on Facebook on Tuesday, May 12.
The city council stated that Savych fired a non-lethal weapon inside the building, where employees and visitors were present at the time. As a result, one person was injured. For his part, Savych claimed that someone was trying to kill him and livestreamed the events.
"Prior to this, throughout the day, Serhii Savych behaved aggressively, making threats and using profanity directed at Svitlovodsk City Council Secretary Maksym Bakumenko. Some of these actions were publicly recorded in live streams on Savich’s own social media accounts," the statement reads.
Law enforcement officials are currently conducting the arrest and urgent investigative actions.
