The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War has provided russia, the aggressor country, with lists for an exchange on a 1,000-for-1,000 basis. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Sunday, May 10.
Zelenskyy noted that the prisoner exchange with russia is being prepared and will be guaranteed by the American side. According to him, US President Donald Trump has confirmed these agreements.
"The prisoner exchange—1,000 for 1,000—is being prepared and is to take place. The Americans have provided these guarantees. The Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters has handed over lists of 1,000 prisoners to the Russian side. There was American mediation in this exchange agreement, so we expect the American side to be active in ensuring the implementation of the agreements," Zelenskyy emphasized.
As a reminder, on April 3, with the support of First Lady of the United States Melania Trump, Ukraine managed to return seven children from the temporarily occupied territories.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 10, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that russian dictator vladimir putin had expressed readiness for substantive meetings, a move prompted by Ukraine.
