The US Department of the Treasury announced the imposition of sanctions on 10 individuals and companies, including several in China and Hong Kong, for possible support of the Iranian military's efforts to purchase weapons and technology.
This was outlined in a statement by the United States Department of the Treasury, the text of which is posted on the department's official portal.
"The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury announced sanctions against 10 individuals and companies based in (...) the Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe that contribute to the Iranian military's efforts to secure weapons supplies, as well as raw materials used in Iran's unmanned ballistic missile program," the press release on the US Department of the Treasury website says.
The sanctions affected a number of companies and individuals associated with China and Bangkok. The restrictions also affected individuals and companies based in Belarus and the United Arab Emirates.
The companies Armory Alliance, Hitex Insulation Ningbo Company Limited were also sanctioned.
The sanctions list included Chinese Yushita Shanghai International Trade Co Ltd, Meentropy Technology, The Earth Eye Co, Hong Kong companies AE International Trade Co Limited, HK Hesin Industry Co Limited, Mustad Limited, as well as Elite Energy FZCO, based in Dubai.
"Under President Trump's strong leadership, we will continue to act to keep America safe and target foreign individuals and companies that provide weapons to the Iranian military for use against U.S. forces," Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said in a statement.
