In April, Ukrainian air defense intercepted almost 6,000 russian drones and missiles, the overall effectiveness of air defense was 88.5%.
The Ministry of Defense announced this on Telegram, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that during the month the enemy launched 6,583 drones, while 5,861 UAVs were shot down or suppressed (89%).
In addition, the occupiers used 141 cruise and ballistic missiles to strike Ukraine - 89 were shot down (over 63%).
"Almost 6,000 russian drones and missiles were intercepted by Ukrainian air defense in April 2026. The overall effectiveness of air defense in April was 88.5%. On some days, 92-95% of targets were shot down," the report says.
The Defense Ministry said that the most massive drone attack occurred on April 1, when the russians launched 700 drones.
Also, large combined strikes (600-700 drones and missiles each) took place on April 3, 16, and 25, and on April 15, russia simultaneously launched 21 cruise missiles - Ukrainian air defense shot down 20.
The Defense Ministry emphasizes that the biggest problem remains repelling ballistic missile strikes.
Patriot systems can counter them, but Ukraine lacks missiles for these complexes.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March, the effectiveness of intercepting drones of the aggressor country of russia by Ukraine's air defense exceeded 90%, while the overall rate of intercepting enemy air targets reached 89.9%.
