British rock musician Sting has confirmed that he doesn't plan to leave his USD 550 million fortune to his children. The 74-year-old singer told CBS Sunday Morning.
According to the musician, telling children that they "don't have to work" is "a form of cruelty that I hope I'll never be guilty of."
"All my children have an incredible work ethic - whether it's because of their DNA or because I told them: guys, you have to work. I'm paying for your education, you have shoes on your feet - go work," he said.
Sting assured that the children understand his decision.
"No, at least not to my face," the singer replied when asked if the children complained about this position.
It is worth noting that back in 2014, Sting explained that he did not want to leave the children trust funds that would become a burden for them. At the same time, he noted that he was ready to help if any of them were in a difficult situation.
The musician has six children: Joe (49 years old) and Fuschsia (44 years old) - from his first wife Frances Tomelty, and Mickey (42 years old), Jake (40 years old), Elliot (35 years old) and Giacomo (30 years old) - from his current wife Trudie Styler.
As previously reported, Sting paid the ex-members of The Police more than USD 800,000 in royalties amid a lawsuit for more than USD 10 million.
