NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, who heads the Ukrainian negotiating team, may travel to the US this week to meet with US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff.
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing White House officials.
According to the agency, the meeting is planned to be held in Miami. Bloomberg noted that negotiations between Ukraine and russia have "reached a dead end" in recent weeks, in particular due to the US war in Iran.
Earlier, the media reported that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner postponed their trip to Ukraine because they are focused on events surrounding Iran.
Bloomberg also links Umerov's possible trip to the US with the publication of new transcripts of the "Mindich tapes", which were made public by Ukrainska Pravda. In the materials, the NSDC secretary allegedly communicates with businessman Tymur Mindich, who is a defendant in the "Midas" corruption case.
After the publications were published, Umerov was summoned to parliament for questioning. The NSDC stated that the secretary is on a foreign business trip and will not be able to attend.
What is known about Umerov's mentions in the "Mindich tapes"
The "Mindich tapes", which were reported by Ukrainska Pravda, allegedly record a conversation between Tymur Mindich and Rustem Umerov about the Fire Point company - a manufacturer of drones and missiles.
According to journalist Mykhailo Tkach, they discussed a possible sale of 33% of the company for USD 600 million. The conversation also covered Fire Point's financing and government contracts. Mindich allegedly refers to the company as "we," although he publicly denies any ownership.
Fire Point and Mindich himself claim that he is not a shareholder or beneficiary of the company.
