In Odesa, law enforcement officers uncovered the illegal sale of humanitarian aid, which was supposed to be provided free of charge to Ukrainians. According to the investigation, a former customs officer, a representative of a charitable organization and their foreign accomplice are involved in this. Humanitarian aid was sold at the "7th kilometer" market. 50 tons worth UAH 40 million were sold.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The Prosecutor's Office charges the suspects with illegal sale of humanitarian aid for profit (Part 3, Article 301-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). As the investigation established, the aid came from abroad through charitable foundations. It was about clothes and shoes, which were supposed to be given free of charge to people in need. Instead, these goods ended up on sale.
From October last year to April 2026, the humanitarian aid was delivered by trucks to warehouses in Odesa, after which it was transported to the "7 kilometer" industrial goods market and sold for money.
To create the appearance of legality, documents were drawn up about the alleged transfer of aid between charitable organizations. In fact, the goods were immediately sent for sale.
According to the investigation, more than 50 tons of humanitarian aid were sold in this way, which was imported in 11 separate batches. The estimated cost of the goods exceeds UAH 40 million.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted more than 60 searches. Documents regarding the import and registration of aid, draft accounting, mobile phones and the goods themselves were seized.
At the request of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, the suspects were taken into custody with the possibility of bail.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a group posing as military personnel and embezzling over UAH 8 million in humanitarian aid was exposed in Zaporizhzhia. The State Bureau of Investigation detained a military man who wanted to sell an SUV donated to the front by volunteers.
