On the evening of May 2, a balloon drifted into Ukraine from Belarus; it may have been used as a relay to amplify the signal for russian aerial weapons.
Andrii Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, has reported this during a live broadcast.
"Last night, we also observed an aerial object entering from Belarus, which was later identified as a balloon. In fact, it is a relay device designed to amplify the signal for the aerial weapons that Russia is using against Ukraine during the shelling," he said.
Referring to the Ukrainian President’s remarks about “specific activity” from Belarus, Demchenko noted that border guards are anticipating possible provocations and attempts to destabilize the border, though details are not being disclosed at this time.
"The threat from Belarus never goes away… I can’t reveal everything openly right now, but we can expect — or prepare for — attempts to destabilize the situation along our border; we do not rule out provocations," he said.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously warned Belarus against participating in russia’s “sick ideas” regarding a new offensive.
Prior to this, he reported that roads leading to Ukrainian territory are being built in Belarus and artillery positions are being established. According to him, russia, the aggressor country, will try to drag Belarus into its war.
