The "Da Vinci Wolves" battalion has acknowledged that its soldiers were involved in an incident in the town of Shakhtarsk, Dnipropetrovsk Region, where police detained three men on suspicion of kidnapping and assaulting a 20-year-old local resident.

The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Police and the battalion’s social media accounts reported this.

The report of the incident was received on May 1 at approximately 11:40 p.m. It stated that three men, aged 38, 25, and 24, had attacked an acquaintance of a security guard at one of the stores.

The investigation established that after the beating, the suspects put the unconscious man in a car and opened fire with automatic weapons toward the store building.

Law enforcement officers detained three individuals suspected of involvement in the crime.

The Da Vinci Wolves battalion reported on social media that their soldiers were involved in the incident. They noted that such behavior is unacceptable and incompatible with the unit’s values, and announced that an internal investigation is underway in cooperation with the police.

The unit also stated that the soldiers involved will face punishment.

Battalion Commander Serhii Filimonov stated that the soldiers have been carrying out combat missions for a long time, but this cannot serve as an excuse for their actions.

The battalion added that the city of Shakhtarske is located near the combat zone and supports the military, and called on local residents to contact them with suggestions on how to help the community.

As a reminder, on the evening of April 30, an explosion occurred near a territorial recruitment and social support center's administrative building. Police were informed that a man had thrown a grenade toward the building.
