Ukrainian units continue to control the Myropillia area in the Sumy Region, despite statements by the russian Ministry of Defense on May 3, 2026.

It was reported by the "Kursk" military group.

Over the past few days, neither the advance of russian troops nor any assault operations have been recorded in this area.

"There has been no enemy advance, nor any assault operations in that area over the past few days," the military stated.

Earlier, the russian Ministry of Defense reported an offensive in the Sumy Region and the expansion of a buffer zone along the border with russia in the north of Ukraine.

The "Kursk" Operational Command links these statements to the approaching May 9, calling this date "the main fetish of Russian military mythology."

"We suspect that at this rate, by May 9, the Russian Ministry of Defense will report the capture of the entire Sumy Region," the military noted.

The statement also notes that the Ukrainian military called on the russian Ministry of Defense to send a commission to the front line to verify the information and declared their readiness to provide it with a “warm” welcome.

Earlier, the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the russian Ministry of Defense’s February 8 report regarding the alleged capture of Hlushkivka in the Kharkiv Region, located 12 km from Kupiansk, is untrue, as russian troops do not control and are not even present in the settlement.
