For the first time since the beginning of February this year, Ukrainian producers were able to increase selling prices for onions.
This is stated in a report by the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In general, no significant increase in onion prices has been recorded in Ukraine since mid-May 2025.
Key market participants attribute the current price increase to the seasonal depletion of onion stocks in local farms, as well as to increased purchasing activity by wholesale companies.
The report says that as of today, Ukrainian farmers are ready to ship onions for no less than UAH 4-9 per kilogram, which is on average 40% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
Despite the price increase, demand for these products remains quite high in conditions of limited supply, especially for high-quality onions.
Most farms have already sold out all available volumes, and those market operators who have certain stocks of products of proper quality are counting on a further increase in prices in this segment.
At the same time, despite the current price increase, onions in Ukraine are currently still 68% cheaper on average than in the same period last year.
It is noted that, according to market participants, positive price trends in this segment will persist until the mass arrival of new harvest onions from local farms.
