To accelerate the training of flight crews and more effectively defend the skies against russian attacks, Ukraine has received state-of-the-art mobile F-16 fighter jet simulators. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced this.
According to the minister, F-16 fighter jets are already carrying out combat missions in Ukrainian airspace; however, to improve pilots’ skills, it is necessary to implement the most modern training methods. The simulators received are rare even on a global scale due to their high cost, but thanks to the support of partners, some of them are already in operation in Ukraine.
The main feature of these simulators is that they are designed for the specific technical tasks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and take into account the geography of Ukraine. The mobility of the systems allows for rapid changes in their deployment, ensuring the safety of personnel during regular shelling.
Thanks to the new systems, pilots can practice complex combat scenarios without using actual aircraft. In particular, training focuses on reaction speed in dynamic combat, situational awareness, and mission execution in a simulated digital environment. Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that this approach effectively signifies a full transition to NATO standards in pilot training and enables an asymmetric response to the enemy using advanced technologies.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrainian F-16 pilots repelled russian attacks with onboard cannons for three weeks due to a shortage of missiles.
It was also reported that the Norwegian F-16s provided to Ukraine will soon be ready for operation.
