Russian troops near Kupiansk are attempting to break through to the town via gas pipelines, despite the fact that the pipelines have been severed. Meanwhile, enemy casualties during these crossing attempts are as high as 70%.

Viktor Trehubov, a spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, has reported this to Suspilne.

"I hoped they would stop doing this near Kupiansk, because the pipes are simply smashed to pieces. They are trying to get through the very Holubivka, where one of the pipes happens to run. Casualties just from attempting to cross this pipe reach 70%, but they keep trying anyway," he said.

According to Treghubov, the russians likely consider such assaults better than crossing open fields, since the pipeline provides at least some cover.

"Even if it’s broken in several places, it still provides cover in others — it can’t be completely destroyed," he added.

The Joint Forces Group spokesperson also reported that in the area of Kupiansk, the russians are actively trying to reduce the bridgehead on the left bank of the Oskil River and break through to Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in the Sumy Region, russian troops again attempted to infiltrate the rear of Ukrainian forces using a gas pipeline and light equipment. The attack was detected and stopped in time.
