American intelligence does not confirm US President Donald Trump's claim that Iran has been critically weakened after the military operation. CBS News reports this, citing anonymous officials.
According to them, the intelligence assessments differ significantly from public statements by the White House and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, who previously spoke about the "virtual destruction" of Iranian military capabilities as a result of Operation Epic Fury.
In fact, intelligence suggests that Iran maintains a significant arsenal, including thousands of missiles and strike drones, capable of threatening the United States and its allies in the region.
"Iran maintains thousands of missiles and unilateral drones that can threaten U.S. forces and partners throughout the region, despite its declining capabilities due to both attrition and cost," said Marine Lt. Gen. James Adams.
U.S. officials estimate that about 60 percent of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' naval forces remain combat-ready. While part of the fleet was destroyed in a joint U.S.-Israeli operation, Iran's asymmetric naval units, including speedboats, continue to operate and affect the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In addition, approximately two-thirds of the Iranian air force, despite significant losses, remains operational after large-scale strikes on infrastructure and military facilities.
Intelligence also warns that Iran continues to be capable of inflicting damage, which casts doubt on claims of its complete military incompetence.
