President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded actress Natalia Sumska the Order of Princess Olga, III degree, on the occasion of her 70th birthday. This is stated in Decree 325 of April 21, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"For a significant personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and theater art, many years of fruitful creative activity, I hereby decree: to award the Order of Princess Olga of the III degree to Sumska Natalia Viacheslavivna - drama artist - leading stage master of the State Enterprise "Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater," the document says.
Sumska celebrates her 70th birthday on April 22 this year.
Since 1977, she has been an actress at the Ivan Franko National Academic Theater, and also works at the Beniuk and Khostikoev Theater Company.
In 2000, Sumska was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine. She is a winner of the Golden Dzyga Film Award for her role as fortune-teller Yavdokha in the Black Raven film (2020), a three-time winner of the Kyiv Pectoral Theater Award (2000, 2011, 2015), a winner of the Shevchenko Prize (2008) and the Lesia Ukrainka Cabinet of Ministers Award (2009).
The actress, among other roles in films, played the mother of the main character, history teacher Vasyl Holoborodko (character of Volodymyr Zelenskyy), who unexpectedly became the President of Ukraine, in the Servant of the People series.
She is married to actor Anatolii Khostikoiev, her younger sister is actress Olha Sumska.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in April, Zelenskyy awarded film director Roman Balaian the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, IV degree, on the occasion of his 85th birthday.
