On the morning of April 20, the body of a city council member was found in a car in the Prymorskyi district of Odesa.
This was reported by the Odesa region police.
The circumstances of the death are being established, an investigative and operational group is working at the scene.
The name of the deceased has not been officially released. The "Dumska" publication reports that it is 51-year-old Oleksandr Ivanytskyi, who is said to be close to former city mayor Hennadii Trukhanov.
According to preliminary information, the council member could have committed suicide using a firearm.
The police are resolving the issue of the legal qualification of the incident and entering information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations.
Recall that earlier the media repeatedly wrote that the mayor of Odesa has russian citizenship. It was even stated that Trukhanov was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, but the State Migration Service did not confirm this.
On October 14, it became known that President Zelenskyy signed a decree on the deprivation of citizenship of the mayor of Odesa Trukhanov.
Later, the Security Service of Ukraine published a photo of Trukhanov's russian passport. The document states that it was issued on December 15, 2015 and is valid for 10 years.
