A criminal investigation has been launched against the police officers who fled during the terrorist attack in Kyiv on April 18. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has announced this on his Telegram channel.
The proceedings were opened on the fact of improper performance of official duties by police officers, which caused grave consequences (Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"All actions of law enforcement officers at the time of a critical threat to the lives of citizens, including the episode with leaving a young child in danger and the untimely termination of the attacker's actions, will receive a proper legal assessment," Kravchenko wrote.
According to him, the group of prosecutors is headed by the Kyiv City Prosecutor. The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the State Bureau of Investigation.
"We guarantee that the investigation will be conducted objectively and impartially. The public will receive answers, and the perpetrators will be legally punished. Justice will be ensured. P.S. Regarding the deceased mother of the wounded boy, I have to correct a mistake, it was not the boy's mother who died in the hospital, but her own sister," the Prosecutor General added.
Recall that earlier Kravchenko said that the shooting in the Holosiivskyi District of Kyiv, which killed six people, was qualified as a terrorist act.
