Iran has reported the resumption of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, as the United States refused to lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf.

It was reported by the portal of the British magazine The Guardian.

Reporters note that Iran has announced that control over the Strait of Hormuz has "reverted to its previous state" amid a conflict with the United States over the naval blockade of Iranian ports.

In a statement published by Iranian media, the Iranian Armed Forces' operational command, Khatam al-Anbia, called the US blockade of the ports "piracy."

"For this reason, control of the strait of Hormuz has reverted to its previous state, and this strategic waterway is under the strict management and control of the armed forces," the statement said.

The Iranian military added that until the US "restores full freedom of navigation for vessels traveling from Iran to destinations and from destinations back to Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain under strict control and in its previous state."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, more than ten countries have expressed their readiness to provide military resources to participate in a defense mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced this following an international meeting in Paris.

In his turn, US President Donald Trump stressed that the naval blockade of Iran would "remain in full force" until a deal is agreed upon.
