In the course of the offensive, which has been in full swing since February, the Defense Forces managed to liberate 12 settlements and regain control over more than 480 square kilometers. This became possible thanks to the initiative of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi to increase the unmanned component in assault units. Military officer Kyrylo Sazonov has reported this and noted that the draft law on assault troops has already been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and will soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration.
"In the south, the Defense Forces continue to develop the offensive operation, which has been in an active stage since February. We managed not only to stop the enemy, but also to do the incredible - 12 settlements have already been liberated and control over the territory of more than 480 square kilometers has been restored. But every success has its own explanation. In early February, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated the importance of increasing the unmanned component of the assault troops. At that time, he said that additional battalions of unmanned systems would be added to the staff of certain assault regiments. And it is this combination that is now producing results. A very good result. The assault units equipped with drones act as a single system: reconnaissance, correction, precision strikes and rapid ground maneuver," Sazonov said.
According to him, assault units reinforced by drones are already performing the functions of a separate type of troops.
"The Russians continue to use massed infantry, and we respond with technology. This is a classic asymmetric response that allows for advancement with less casualties. In fact, such units are already performing the functions of a separate branch of the army. They operate autonomously, mobily and without being tied to permanent defense lines," the military wrote.
Sazonov said that according to his information, the draft law on assault troops has already been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and will soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration.
"Last year, Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi initiated, and the President supported, the legalization of this status and the creation of a separate branch of the army - the Assault Troops. And it's great that the initiative has recently received support. The day before yesterday, the Ministry of Defense stated the importance of developing drone assault units and actually confirmed the correctness of this approach. According to available information, the draft law on assault troops has already been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and will soon be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. The President and specialized MPs have reacted favorably to it," the military wrote.
Sazonov emphasized that despite the criticism, the Assault Troops have shown successful results at the front, and it is now clear that their formalization is a necessary step.
"There was a lot of criticism after Syrskyi's first statements. Now, when the result at the front is obvious: the formalization of the Assault Troops is a necessary step. The enemy is trying to copy our experience. And it's good that we are the first and are already showing results," the military emphasized.
