Iran has announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz for the duration of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. This was announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on his X-account on Friday, April 17.

Araghchi emphasized that the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is declared open.

"In accordance with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open for the remainder of the ceasefire period along a coordinated route already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Representative of Iran," Araghchi wrote.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 6, the intensity of vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz reached its highest level since late February, when Israel and the US launched a war against Iran, which led to the closure of this strategically important sea route.
