The massive morning shelling on April 16 caused serious damage to the energy infrastructure in the Mykolaiv Region. The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitalii Kim has reported this.
As a result of the enemy's attacks, the regional center and a large part of the communities in the region were left without electricity.
"Due to the strike on the energy infrastructure, residents of Mykolaiv, as well as a number of settlements in the Mykolaiv and Bashtanka districts, were left without electricity," the official said.
According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, the russian occupants deliberately attacked critical power supply units. Despite the complexity of the situation, repair crews have already begun to eliminate the consequences of the terror.
"Specialists have already started to restore power supply," assured Vitalii Kim, adding that power engineers are doing everything possible to return light to the homes of residents as soon as possible.
The damage is currently being assessed. In addition to Mykolaiv, facilities in other regions of Ukraine were also hit, forcing the power system to operate in an enhanced mode. Authorities are urging residents of the Bashtanka and Mykolaiv Districts to be patient while emergency repairs are underway.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of April 16, the aggressor country russia massively attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones, killing five people, including a 12-year-old child.
As a result of the night attack on Kyiv, houses in four districts were destroyed, 5 people were killed.
