Steel production decreases by 0.3% to 1.7 million tons in January-March

In January-March 2026, steel production decreased by 0.3% to 1.73 million tons compared to the same period in 2025.

This is reported in the information published on the website of the Ukrmetalurgprom association of enterprises, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In January-March 2026, pig iron production increased by 5.9% to 1.80 million tons compared to the same period in 2025, while rolled steel production decreased by 6.6% to 1.34 million tons.

According to a study by the industry analytical center GMK Center, the European Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) may lead to Ukraine losing 2.1% of GDP and shutting down some blast furnaces by 2030.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January-November 2025, steel production decreased by 3.1% to 6.81 million tons compared to the same period in 2024.
