About 500 passengers of a suburban train were evacuated in the Dnipropetrovsk Region after an air threat was warned and the train stopped moving. People were taken to the nearest station and then safely moved from the cars.
It was reported by the Ukrzaliznytsia and the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
The incident occurred on the morning of April 13 during an attack by russian troops on the region's railway infrastructure.
The Air Threat Monitoring Center provided information in advance to the crews of the trains that were at risk. After that, the suburban train was stopped and passengers were evacuated from the train.
The locomotive crew of the freight train was evacuated separately. After the evacuation was completed, an impact was recorded near the locomotive.
According to the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, there were no injuries among passengers and railway workers.
After the air threat was stopped, the passengers returned to the train, and the route was resumed.
The ministry noted that monitoring of threats on railway routes is ongoing and allows for prompt response to risks and organization of evacuation in case of danger.
As the risks of attacks on railway infrastructure have increased, Ukrzaliznytsia has strengthened security measures and developed a clear algorithm of actions for passengers in case of a threat during a flight. When drones directly threaten a train, passengers will be taken out of the carriage.
