Beijing may supply Iran with new air defense systems, including man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), within the next few weeks.
The authors of the CNN portal write about this with reference to sources familiar with the data of the US intelligence services.
It is noted that such means during the five-week US-Israeli operation against Tehran posed a serious threat to low-flying US military aircraft, and the Iranians could use them in case of violation of the previously announced ceasefire.
At the same time, the Chinese side can present such supplies as providing Iran with exclusively defensive weapons that are not used in an offensive, in contrast to potential supplies to russia, which is waging an aggressive war.
Intelligence also shows that Iran is likely to use the truce with the United States as an opportunity to resupply some weapons systems with the help of key foreign partners.
Meanwhile, Chinese shipments may be rerouted through third countries to conceal their true origin, the sources said.
