The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets sent letters to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross due to the shooting by russian occupiers of Ukrainian soldiers in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia Regions during the Easter truce.
Lubinets reported this on his Telegram channel on Sunday, April 12.
The Ombudsman stated that during the declared ceasefire for Easter, russian occupation forces killed a Ukrainian evacuation group near Huliaipilske in the Zaporizhzhia Region and shot Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Kharkiv Region.
"According to available information from open sources, the russians stormed Ukrainian positions, as a result of which four of our soldiers were captured. But the occupiers, instead of observing the norms of international humanitarian law, shot unarmed Ukrainians on the spot! This is a gross and cynical violation of the norms of international humanitarian law, in particular the Geneva Conventions," the Ombudsman emphasized.
Lubinets sent letters to the ICRC and the UN regarding russian crimes and noted that as of today, almost 227,000 crimes of aggression and war crimes by the russian federation have been recorded.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 12, DeepState analysts stated that in the area of the village of Veterynarne in the Kharkiv Region, russian troops captured and shot four Ukrainian servicemen. Also on April 12, russian FPV drones struck a Ukrainian evacuation group.
