US President Donald Trump said the Strait of Hormuz "will reopen soon" - regardless of Iran's cooperation - and that US negotiators, who are now heading to Pakistan, are focused primarily on preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

This was reported by the CNN portal, citing Trump's statements at the Andrews base.

"I think it will happen quite quickly. And if not, we can solve this issue one way or another," Trump said regarding the resumption of the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which was blocked by Iran.

Trump also noted that his main priority in the Iran deal is to limit the country's nuclear potential.

"No nuclear weapons. That's 99% of the deal," Trump stressed about the Iran deal.

When asked whether the deal would also apply to the Strait of Hormuz, Trump answered in the affirmative.

"Yes, but it will be resolved automatically," he replied, later adding that he thought the strait would be opened "quite quickly."
