10 members of the Verkhovna Rada propose to replace a part of social benefits with basic social assistance.
This is stated in bill No. 15094, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The document proposes to abandon certain payments for low-income families and people who are not entitled to a pension.
However, they will not lose their payments. In this case, their payment will be changed to basic social assistance.
The amount of such assistance will be determined annually.
Basic social assistance cannot be less than the subsistence level as of January 1 of the current year.
The new basic social assistance for families, if the law is adopted, will be calculated according to the following formula: 100% of the basic amount for the first family member and 100% for each subsequent family member. The total amount of payments will be based on the number of people in the family.
The assistance will be allocated to one of the family members for a period of 6 months with the possibility of extension.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Social Policy is expanding the list of categories of recipients of basic social assistance.
The pilot project started on July 1, 2025, the first stage covered recipients of certain types of social assistance.
