The aggressor country of russia is expanding the tools for circumventing sanctions, transferring part of international payments to crypto payment channels via African countries. This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).

Thus, according to the Center, Moscow is promoting the A7 platform in Nigeria and Zimbabwe as an alternative mechanism for external payments. These are payments via stablecoins and debt instruments. They are more difficult to track and block, unlike classic transactions.

"It is also important that A7 is associated with the sanctioned Promsvyazbank and the Moldovan politician Ilan Shor, who is associated with the russian federation. This indicates that the platform can be used not only for more convenient payments, but also to circumvent sanctions and remove some financial transactions from control," the CCD emphasized.

The Center added that after disconnecting from SWIFT and tightening US sanctions, russia is systematically looking for ways to reduce its dependence on banks and financial routes under Western control. Africa has become one of the key destinations due to the rapid growth of crypto payments, demand for cheap international transfers, and weaker regulation of cross-border financial transactions.

"The sanctions system is facing a new challenge: financial technologies allow us to bypass the usual control mechanisms. Therefore, it is important to strengthen supervision over such instruments so that economic pressure on russia remains effective," the CCD emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to CCD, russia systematically influences the editorial policy of a number of French-language media resources in West African countries in order to spread pro-russian narratives.
