Ukraine confirms return of 1,000 bodies

Today, the bodies (remains) of 1,000 deceased were returned to Ukraine. According to the russian side, they belong to Ukrainian servicemen. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

"Investigators of law enforcement agencies, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations to identify the repatriated persons. After the identification of the deceased, the bodies will be handed over to their families for a dignified burial," the message says.

Repatriation measures were successfully carried out jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine. The International Committee of the Red Cross also assisted.

Recall that the day before, russian media reported on the exchange of bodies of russian and Ukrainian military personnel.
