How does the Foreign Ministry explain the appointment?
The ministry noted that the selection of the candidate was guided by the established criteria: long-term residence in the country, higher education, knowledge of languages, experience in public service and audit activities, as well as active cooperation with the embassy and positive feedback from the Ukrainian community. The vetting with the involvement of the competent authorities, in particular regarding ties with russia, did not reveal any objections.
"Taking into account that the materials published in the media caused a sharp and negative public response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried out an additional check of all the circumstances and decided to revoke the patent, in particular, taking into account the opening of a full-fledged Ukrainian embassy in the Dominican Republic this year," the ministry said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the tightening of regulatory requirements for the institute of honorary consuls and a comprehensive inspection of the activities of all honorary consulates of Ukraine in the world. Based on its results, decisions will be made on the feasibility of further work of each of them.
As reported earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry was criticized for a number of odious appointments to diplomatic posts.
