The US is reviewing the list of facilities in Iran that could become targets for strikes, trying to avoid possible accusations of war crimes.

This is reported by Politico, citing sources in the Pentagon.

According to the publication, the US military, together with allies, are analyzing new options for targets after several weeks of intensive attacks on Iranian military infrastructure and the increase in the US presence in the region.

These include, in particular, energy infrastructure facilities that provide both civilian and military needs.

Officials believe that due to their dual purpose, such facilities can be considered legitimate targets. At the same time, discussions are ongoing within the Pentagon about how justified this approach is.

The issue of the boundary between civilian and military facilities is of particular controversy. For example, water treatment facilities may be included in the list of targets, since they are also used by the military.

As Politico notes, the US and Israeli campaign had previously barely touched Iran's energy and fuel infrastructure. However, amid rising tensions and Tehran's lack of concessions, the list of potential targets has begun to expand.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, attempts to establish a dialogue between the US and Iran have so far failed - Tehran has refused to make concessions and has effectively blocked the negotiation process.

Iran has also stated that it is ready to fully restore the Strait of Hormuz only on one condition - after full compensation for the damage caused by the war.
