Two Ukrainians to go on trial in Bucharest over alleged sabotage at Nova Poshta office

Two Ukrainian citizens, aged 23 and 24, are to go on trial in Romania on suspicion of attempted sabotage after they allegedly left two boxes of explosives at the Nova Poshta office in Bucharest, according to investigators.

This was reported by Balkan Insight.

According to the Romanian Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism, the incident occurred at the Nova Poshta office, located in a residential building in a central, densely populated area of ​​the city.

Investigators believe the abandoned boxes posed a threat to Romania's national security.

The suspects were detained in October 2025 as part of a joint operation with Polish law enforcement officers. At the same time, six more people were arrested in Poland in connection with the case.

Law enforcement agencies in Romania and Poland admit the possible involvement of russia in this incident.

If convicted, the suspects face up to ten years in prison.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed with Romanian President Nicușor Dan to establish a strategic partnership, cooperation in the energy sector, and joint weapons production.
