Scandinavian air defense system will help to shoot down russian Shaheds and cruise missiles - Defense Ministry

The Scandinavian air defense system TRIDON Mk2 is leaving to protect Ukrainian skies. The Ministry of Defense reported this on Facebook.

"Sweden will allocate EUR 400 million for the purchase of TRIDON Mk2 for Ukraine - almost a third of the amount of the new military aid package of EUR 1.2 billion, which was announced in February," the message says.

What is known about TRIDON Mk2

  • Can fire 300 rounds per minute at a distance of up to 12 km with explosive ammunition.
  • Mounted on Scania trucks or on tracked armored all-terrain vehicles BvS 10.
  • Bofors 40 Mk4 automatic cannon with a caliber of 40 mm, 300 rounds per minute at a distance of up to 12 km.
  • Munitions with programmable detonation that explode in front of the target and create a cloud of debris.
  • First introduced in 2024.

As a reminder, Ukrainian air defense intercepted over 90% of russian drones in March.
