US President Donald Trump said that the second crew member of the downed American F-15E fighter jet in southwestern Iran was rescued by the US military. He was injured.

US President Donald Trump has announced this on his social network TruthSocial.

"My fellow Americansover the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History, for one of our incredible Crew Member Officers, who also happens to be a highly respected Colonel, and who I am thrilled to let you know is now SAFE and SOUND!" Trump said.

The US president said that the commander-in-chief, the secretary of defense, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and fellow soldiers were tracking his whereabouts around the clock and carefully planning his rescue.

According to Trump, by his order, the US military sent dozens of aircraft to rescue him. The pilot was injured, but the American president claims that he will be fine.

"This miraculous Search and Rescue Operation comes in addition to a successful rescue of another brave Pilot, yesterday, which we did not confirm, because we did not want to jeopardize our second rescue operation. This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued, separately, deep in Enemy Territory," he added.

In addition, Trump said that the rescue operations to save the two pilots were carried out without any deaths or injuries.

According to The Guardian, the F-15E Strike Eagle was the first American aircraft shot down over Iran during the five-week war. The US military hasn't had an aircraft shot down by enemy fire in more than 20 years, since a military plane was shot down during the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

US special forces have found and rescued one of the crew members of a US fighter jet shot down over Iran. Iranian state media and businesses offered a reward for the capture of the missing crew member.

Military pilots said that the missing F-15 crew member was probably trying to hide from the Iranian military as long as possible and may have been trying to transmit his location to a known secret point, hoping that the US special forces arriving by helicopter would be able to rescue him.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, meanwhile, on April 5, Trump reminded Iran of the deadline for opening the Strait of Hormuz:

"Remember when I gave Iran ten days to make a deal or open up the Hormuz Strait. Time is running out - 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to God!"
