Almost half of the tanks in the russian port of Primorsk on the Baltic Sea are out of commission as a result of a series of drone attacks by Ukraine in late March. In the neighboring port of Ust-Luga, every fourth tank was damaged.

Reuters reported this on Thursday, April 2, citing an analysis of satellite images of the port.

The images show that at least eight tanks with a capacity of 50 cubic meters each were damaged by drone attacks and subsequent fires.

According to traders, this represents about 40% of the total tank fleet in the port of Primorsk. They believe that this may force the port to reduce oil shipments, as these tanks play an important role in the logistics chain.

Unnnamed sources told Reuters that at least two of the damaged tanks were used to store diesel fuel.

At the port of Ust-Luga, at least eight tanks with a capacity of 30,000 cubic meters each were damaged, according to an analysis of satellite images. This is about a quarter of the total number of tanks in the port.

In addition, the images showed damage to some berthing facilities. The extent of this damage remains unknown.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 2, the media wrote, that in the aggressor country of russia a reduction in oil production due to the consequences of Ukraine's attacks on the country's oil refining facilities in the second half of March is inevitable.

As a reminder, on March 27, it became known that russian oil refiners warned customers that they may be forced to declare force majeure in supplies due to Ukraine's strikes on the ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk.
