Population increases purchases of foreign currency by almost 2 times to USD 1 billion in March

The net purchase of foreign currency by the population in March of this year increased 1.9 times to USD 1,019 million in equivalent.

This is evidenced by the data of the National Bank, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In March, purchases of non-cash foreign currency amounted to USD 438 million, while sales amounted to USD 387 million.

The volumes of cash purchases and sales in March increased and amounted to USD 2.392 billion and USD 1.424 billion, respectively.

Thus, the net purchase of cash currency by the population last month amounted to USD 968 million.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, banks increased the import of cash currency by 13% to USD 914 million in February.
