Former leaders of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (SFGCU) and their accomplices sold almost 106,000 tons of corn to a foreign company without payment, forging documents for the cargo. The state's losses amounted to UAH 776 million.
This was reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).
In 2021, the SFGCU signed four contracts for the sale of corn to a foreign company. Under the terms of the agreements, the buyer was to pay the full cost of the grain before receiving the cargo.
Despite this, the original documents giving the right to receive the grain at the port were transferred to the buyer. The result was the actual use of the cargo without payment.
To hide the disappearance of the grain, the State Food and Grain Corporation left copies of documents with forged signatures and seals, creating the appearance of control over the cargo. As a result, the state lost almost 106,000 tons of grain worth UAH 776 million.
According to the investigation, the money from the sale of the cargo was "laundered" through a number of banking transactions, combining it with legal funds and investing in business and property.
The former chairman of the board of the SFGCU, the former director of the trading department, the head and owner of a foreign company, his confidant and another participant in the scheme were served with suspicions.
They are accused of embezzlement, money laundering and forgery of documents. At the same time, all those involved remain innocent until the court proves their guilt.
We will remind, in the Kherson Region, a fraudulent scheme was exposed during humanitarian land demining: sappers "cleared" the territory where there were no explosives, and took money allocated by the European Union for this.
