On April 1, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Borodianka and the city of Hostomel in the Kyiv Region from russian troops.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Hostomel was of strategic importance due to the location of the Antonov airport, for which fierce battles were fought. Control over this facility was important for the plans of the russian troops for a quick offensive on Kyiv, but Ukrainian forces thwarted these intentions.
The occupiers destroyed the largest transport aircraft in the world
Borodianka was under russian occupation during March 2022 and suffered significant destruction as a result of hostilities and shelling. After the liberation of the settlement, large-scale destruction of residential infrastructure was recorded.
It was here that the ceramic rooster, which survived on a kitchen cabinet in a destroyed high-rise building, became one of the symbols of the indomitability of Ukrainians and was circulated in the world media.

The liberation of Borodianka and Hostomel, along with other settlements in the Kyiv Region, was an important stage in repelling russian aggression and allowed us to finally remove the threat of encirclement of the capital.
As a reminder, Steam did not remove the russian game about the attempted occupation of Hostomel, but blocked access to Ukrainians.
