Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) drones attacked the Ust-Luga oil terminal in the Baltic Sea for the second time in a week, causing serious damage and a fire. This terminal is russia's key seaport in the Baltic, through which oil is exported.
The Security Service of Ukraine has reported this to the Ukrainian News agency.
Long-range drones of the SSU Alpha Special Operations Center have successfully operated on the infrastructure of the oil terminal of the Ust-Luga port in the Leningrad Oblast of russia. This is a key russian seaport on the Baltic. Oil is exported through it, including with the use of vessels of the so-called shadow fleet.
"The SSU, together with the Defense Forces, continues systematic work to reduce the enemy's financial and logistical capabilities. After all, all oil facilities are actually part of the Russian military-industrial complex and provide the Russian budget with funds that are used for the war against Ukraine. Therefore, special operations to counteract this will continue. Russia will pay a high price for its aggression," said the SSU Acting Head, Major General Yevhen Khmara.
Severe damage and fire were recorded as a result of today's attack.
We would like to remind you that the SSU has successfully destroyed the enemy's oil infrastructure in the Baltic Sea four times in the last week. The previous operations were conducted in close cooperation with the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Earlier, drones of the Service and the Defense Forces had hit another important russian oil export hub on the Baltic Sea - the port of Primorsk. The strikes resulted in fires and damage to a number of tanks.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, due to "sanctions" by the SSU and Khmara, russia's 40% of oil export capacity has been shut down, which is destroying its economy.
